It mostly sucks because there’s a lot of older world farms I used to do that likely won’t be affected by the new Dragonflight systems.Īnd for the average player, I don’t think they’re really making their gold by crafting equipment and gear. I’m just hoping there’s a high barrier to entry for a lot of recipes. It’s so hard to actually tell how it’s gonna be at the moment with all of the crafting changes coming in Dragonflight, so we’ll have to see. Of course, this was also discussed heavily on the /woweconomy reddit. There's a lot of information to digest, but well worth a watch. On the flip-side, things are likely to settle as players get used to different methods of making gold. He also discusses Parity and how this change can ruin the economy of individual servers because the flow of money at the base level (farming) is no longer worth the time on these servers and will have a knock-on effect on crafted items. The key things in this video go through the economics of Perfect Competition, how flipping and farming is dead, the possible reason why and how this could take the load off individual servers, how TSM can inflate prices. WTBGold has a lengthy and in-depth video going through his thoughts on the matter and is well worth a watch. Selling commodities cross server through transfer.Farming raw materials, particularly on mid to low pop servers. This mostly affects those who made gold through the following methods. On the flip side, higher population servers faced more competition, but generated faster sales due to higher demand. A player could still make a reasonable amount of gold on these servers because the higher prices offset the slower sales. In general, lower population servers cost more in raw materials and end products because there was less people farming and less people buying the end product. Each player was compensated for their time by a price determined by the economy of that particular server. The price of materials was directly based on the supply of raw materials from farmers who then fed into the crafters who then produced items to sell back on the auction house.

We might schedule a specific time in a few weeks for everyone to hop on at the same time to help stress it, details tbd.Įach individual server has had it's own economy based on direct supply and demand mechanics within that realms population. We’d love for players to hop on the PTR, copy over their characters, and help us test the Auction House across the entire PTR region. Developers’ note: The Auction House you know and use today should look and feel exactly the same it’ll just have way more buyers and sellers available to you for commodities.Items that aren’t commodities –- like armor and weapons –- will continue to be realm-specific. Most of other advantages of being in a low pop server (farming, rares, etc.) can already be achieved through cross realm invites.AUCTION HOUSE UPDATE: REGION-WIDE COMMODITIESĪuction Houses across all realms on a given region will now share commodity listings (gems, herbs, flasks, consumables, etc.). There are quite a lot of people doing this in fact, I've seen 5+ people at the same time around BMAH on a "dead" server.īut then, on most of these servers don't hope to do any current tier normal content, if you're mostly going for pvp/flex/lfr then it may not be a problem. You have way more chance to win yes, unless someone is looking for the same items as yours on the same server (yes, this DO happen). But you need loads of money before transferring (+ transferring a guild as already said, 50k is quite low for bmah), because it's a real pain to gain some gold in these servers where AH is basically dead. Do you have more of an advantage of winning items on low pop realms? That's about the only advantage of being on a low pop server.

I'm willing to transfer off the server just to be able to go to a low pop (Pve) realm, but I wonder if it's worth it. I'm on Kil'jaeden US, so on top of it being high pop, it's also a PvP server. Sadly, though, I can't seem to win these items because of the high amount of people bidding on them. I would really like to buy the Tier 3 gear off of the BMAH.
